Mackie’s Ice Cream

Solar Farm for Mackie’s Ice Cream

Mackie’s have been providing Scotland with high quality dairy products from their Westertown farm since all the way back in 1912 and have grown to be one of Scotland’s most well-known and respected food brand.

Sustainability has always been at the heart of the Mackie’s brand, and they have ambitions to become the Greenest company in the whole UK.

In 2014/15 we helped Mackie’s take a huge leap towards this goal, winning a tender against SSE to build Scotland’s very first ever solar farm.

This was one of our most successful and challenging installations, being one of Scotland’s first sites combining a grid connection with a wind turbine.

Despite these challenges, we delivered on time and on budget and ever since the solar farm has been generating around 1,500,000 kWh of clean free electricity per year.

This well exceeded our initial 3D PVSol design estimations and shows just how committed we are to creating the most productive possible systems for each and every client.
