The Glengorm Recycling Centre, located just north of Tobermory, provides recycling services to the whole of the Isle of Mull.
The site is an essential facility for the Island’s sustainability, allowing residents to recycle their paper, cardboard, plastic, and more.
As a site whose main aim is sustainability it made sense that it should be powered using renewable technologies on the Argyll & Bute Council agreed. They tendered the installation of a new wind turbine and our bid was judged to be the best technical solution, at a highly affordable price.
We proposed a 60kW turbine that conformed to all grid restrictions but was capable of delivering extra power when grid issues are resolved. This not only meant the centre was immediately receiving a significant amount of clean energy but also that they wouldn’t need to invest huge amounts of money again in the future if circumstances changed.
